Best Places to Live 2009

Affordability and lifestyle rank city 4th among Best Places to Live in Canada. MoneySense Magazine's annual ranking of our cities puts Burlington at 4th Best in the country.

Looking for a hidden paradise? Try Burlington. That's how MoneySense Magazine introduced the city in its survey, Canada's Best Places to Live 2009. After an study based on 154 cities, the magazine ranked Burlington as the fourth best place to live in Canada.

Placing among the top five Canadian cities is no small feat. The magazine based its findings on 24 factors including; prosperity, growth, affordable housing, job opportunities, weather, cultural activities, health care, whether people could walk or bike to work, and low crime rate. Locally the results rank the city as the best place to live in the greater GTA, suggesting a quality of life superior to Mississauga, Oakville and Toronto.

Burlington is a waterfront city home to more than 170,000 people. From its attractive downtown to its hip uptown core, Burlington is a vibrant growing community. Burlington's geography includes some of the country's highest household incomes and most affordable housing options ranging from town homes, lofts and condominiums.

The city offers a vibrant cultural life, award-winning restaurants and fantastic shopping, local festivals and an inviting waterfront. For outdoor lovers, the Bruce Trail is minutes away and local farms offer fresh produce in season. There is even a sailing club nestled into the bay.
